KATERINA ON PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY
Katerina Machacova's journey to becoming the Head of ESG at Semperit is marked by overcoming significant challenges. She stepped into her role without any professional or educational expertise in ESG or direct people leadership experience. "I was offered the role of Head of ESG without any professional or educational expertise in this area, nor did I have direct people leadership experience," she recalls. Katerina tackled these obstacles by learning step by step, growing her team from one to three happy, empowered people, and excelling in promoting sustainability performance, reporting, and impact for her company. Her story exemplifies resilience and the belief that if you can dream something, you can achieve it. "The biggest obstacle that I overcame was to learn to trust myself."
KATERINA ON SUPPORTING WOMEN
Katerina is passionate about supporting women in the workplace, particularly in the industrial and technical sectors. She recognizes the importance of role models and is working on setting up a female-to-female mentoring program within her company. "Lately, I am looking for opportunities to inspire other women in our company: to ask for more, to want more," she says. Katerina is also an active member of her company's Diversity and Inclusion Council, advocating for inclusive initiatives and breaking down barriers in processes, data management, hiring, and promotions. Her commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment is evident in her efforts to mentor young talent, support career development, and promote gender equality in a male-dominated industry.
